Medication Assisted Treatment-Prescription Drug and Opioid Addiction Program (MAT-PDOA)

The Ponca Tribe’s Medication Assisted Treatment-Prescription Drug and Opioid Addiction Program (MAT-PDOA) is funded by the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration. This program provides opportunities for American Indian and Alaskan Native adults experiencing addiction to substances such as Oxycodone, heroin, fentanyl, and other opioids to receive safe and effective treatment. The MAT-PDOA program offers evidenced-based treatment including medication-assisted treatment using FDA-approved Suboxone, behavioral therapy, case management, and recovery support. The goal of this program is to reduce rates of opioid abuse and overdose in the community and to promote physical, emotional, and spiritual wellness.

Michael Degan, MCP, LPC, LADC - Project Director
I am a licensed professional counselor and licensed alcohol and drug counselor in the State of Oklahoma. I received my licenses in 2019 and have worked with the Ponca Tribe of Oklahoma since 2018. I work primarily with adolescent and adult clients and my treatment focuses include mental health counseling, alcohol, opioid, stimulant, and other substance use disorders, medication-assisted treatment (MAT), court-ordered alcohol and drug assessments, and ADSAC assessments. I have received specialized training in Cognitive Behavior Therapy for Chronic Pain and Opioid use and DUI assessments for driver’s license reinstatement.

My vision for the MAT-PDOA program is to increase access to treatment for individuals experiencing opioid use disorders using a holistic approach to improving physical, emotional, and spiritual wellness.
