Community oriented policing

Ponca Tribal Community Outreach Police Officer Nathan Dodd is available 24/7, serving the Ponca Tribe. Officer Dodd holds a Bachelor's Degree and is a CLEET-certified sworn Tribal Officer, having attended the Federal Training Academy. Dodd has around 5,000 hours of law enforcement courses that covered topics including Sexual Assault, Family Violence, Mental Health, Child Forensic Interviewing Techniques, a DHS Criminal Investigator Training Program, and numerous Emergency Management, Incident Command and FEMA sponsored courses. He volunteers as the Ponca Tribe of Oklahoma Emergency Management Commander, as bailiff in the Ponca District Court as time allows, and spends several off-duty hours completing online training to meet the training requirements of BIA, COP's grant, Texas Peace officer, and Ponca Emergency Management. Officer Dodd has assisted the local Missing & Murdered Indigenous Persons (MMIP) chapter in the search for several run-away or missing children - finding the children and bringing them safely home. Dodd performs pro-active police patrols of Ponca Nation Homelands that include Ponca City, White Eagle, Brissie, Marland Fancy Dance Casino and Chilocco Indian School and has made several referrals to Ponca Behavioral Health, Ponca Domestic Violence and Ponca and Kaw Adult Services.
